| This script renames any dropped item, or folders of items, and/or folders, when an item of the same name already exists in the destination folders.
It ignores applications, and stores files in a destination sub-folder, which opens when finished, with the renamed items selected. It's useful for renaming photos where a camera has reset the photo numbers to some already existing names/numbers. It appends a '2' to the name, or a '3', '4'. '5' etc depending on how many copies of the same name are dropped on it. Drop on 'same named' files or folders of files in date order, and they'll be renamed with the same name plus sequential numbering. Items in folders are kept in the folders, and you can set whether the folders should also be re-named. |

| Release Notes: First Release : Only dealt with individual or groups of files
Version 2. Now deals with single level folders of files, and keeps them in the folders after renaming the files. Far more versatile. Version 2.1 Cleaned up script. Version 2.2 Now re-names multi-layered folders & files. Faster. Version 2.3 Fixed a couple of bugs, major changes to some parts of script. Sped it up, but you still might be better of going out to lunch if you dump hundreds of files/folders into the parent folder. Version 2.4 Uploaded the wrong version of the 2.3 script, sorry. Version 2.5 Hopefully fixed an occasional bug where the numbers were appended after the extension Please email me/feedback if problems encountered. |
