| While Entourage has a setup assistant,the primary goal of this script was to prevent users from having any real way of inputing in wrong server settings and basically allow them to set up their email by just entering in their account-ID,and clicking okay thrice.
This script that grabs the users account-ID , reply address , and Full Name and sets up a new IMAP and LDAP account. It does some semi-fancy things like check to make sure the users account id contains the delimiter and corrects and strips the account if they accidently put in their email address,It will also query a LDAP server for their Full name and pull their account ID out of the Mail.app prefs if its been setup.It has some sanity checks for anything I could think would be a problem. I run IMAP at work but Exchange/Kerio at Home (strange huh?) so I will also post an exchange copy later after I get some feed back here. Things I know could be better are a little more centralized variables,I can slim the apple subroutines(handlers) to just the parts I need,and wright a post action for the sent,drafts,trash folders pseudo-error entourage brings.Hope some finds this useful,outside of that if you modify it please post the code so I can perhaps use bits and pieces in the original. |
