| If you don't want iTunes & iPhoto to keep your source copies of your media. For example, if you have a lot of flac that you would just like to have a compressed m4a copy of in iTunes, or if you keep all of your photos in a bunch of directories across your computer, and you'd just like to have iPhoto maintain a copy of each photo in its database, then this is the tool for you!
This is aimed to separate your 'lock-in' with Apple products. Can handle downsampling wav & flac from 24/96 or 24/192 to 16/44.1 (so that iTunes 9 won't bark at you when you try to compress it and add it to iTunes), but you'll have to have a copy of Sample Manager to use this piece of the functionality. If you don't have a copy of Sample Manager, you'll need to copy out the 'tell application "Sample Manager' block of code in the 'addfile2iTunes.applescript'. Other than that, just edit the variables at the top of 'addfiles2iTunes.applescript', and you should be good to go! -Clayton |
